Attention: GM Retirees
Attention – Retirees Ordering Diabetic Supplies
UAW/GM had a prior agreement with MEDCO regarding dispensing of Insulin and supplies to implement a look-back procedure so that supplies would be covered, even if members ordered insulin separately from supplies.
MEDCO would dispense supplies without an Insulin order if the last order for Insulin within approximately a 45-day period from the supply order and no supplies were ordered at the time of the Insulin order. The supplies would then be shipped at no charge.
Ford and Chrysler did not have this look-back procedure therefore; all Insulin orders would have to include the supply order to receive one co-pay fee for both.
The VEBA, in an effort to make the coverage uniform, has adopted the Ford and Chrysler dispensing rules. This means that all Insulin orders starting January 1, 2010 must include the supply and insulin on the same prescription to be charged only one co-pay fee.
Please notify any retirees you know who are affected by this change ASAP.
Thank you.
Linda Davis, Union Benefits Representative UAW Region 1
