The story of UAW Local 22
|
Local 22 is located in Detroit, Michigan and belongs to UAW Region #1.We represent the hard-working men and women of the Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Center where we build the Buick Lucerne and the Cadillac DTS; GMPT Livonia where we build the GM Northstar engine as well as Blocks & Cranks for the Romulus Engine facility; Vitec an IPS Unit where we build plastic gas tanks for various cars and the Medical Staff at Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly, GMPT Livonia and GMPT Romulus. We represent 3,300 employees with approximately 6,000 strong in our very active Retirees Chapter. We are very proud of our committees, CAP, Chaplaincy, Civil Rights, Community Services, Constitution & Bylaws, Consumer Affairs, Education, Election, Recreation, Union Label, Women’s, Veteran’s, and the hard work they do in our communities. We look forward to seeing you and your family at our upcoming events and welcome you at other union functions as well. We would like our visitors to feel free to send us any feedback you may have. Hunter's Safety Classes

Local 22, UAW will be holding Hunter's Safety Classes on May 17-18, 2008, from 9am-5pm at the Union Hall, 4300 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI 48210. You must attend both classes to receive your certification. Please contact us if you are interested in attending 313-897-8850. Lunch will be provided to those attending.

An update to the donations for American Axle Locals 235 and 262 - to date the Livonia Powertrain members have donated $1517.00, the Detroit/Hamtramck members have donated over $3000.00 and the Local 22 Retirees Chapter has donated $274.00. The strikers at American Axle are grateful for your support and send their Thanks!
Your support is requested to help out the still striking workers at American Axle. They are in need of firewood to keep them warm, supporters on the picket line, and anything else you can think of to help them out. They are walking the line for all of us - SOLIDARITY is really important at this time.
