Attention – Retirees Ordering Diabetic Supplies

Updated On: Feb 10, 2010 (07:09:00)

UAW/GM had a prior agreement with MEDCO regarding dispensing of Insulin and supplies to implement a look-back procedure so that supplies would be covered, even if members ordered insulin separately from supplies.

MEDCO would dispense supplies without an Insulin order if the last order for Insulin within approximately a 45-day period from the supply order and no supplies were ordered at the time of the Insulin order. The supplies would then be shipped at no charge.

Ford and Chrysler did not have this look-back procedure therefore; all Insulin orders would have to include the supply order to receive one co-pay fee for both.

The VEBA, in an effort to make the coverage uniform, has adopted the Ford and Chrysler dispensing rules.

This means that all Insulin orders starting January 1, 2010 must include the supply and insulin on the same prescription to be charged only one co-pay fee.

Please notify any retirees you know who are affected by this change ASAP.

Thank you.

Reason to Doubt Jobless Rate

The way jobless claims have been receding should signal that U.S. employment has finally peaked. That probably isn’t the case this time.

Congress Increases Debt Limit
submitted by Tom Summers, Vice President

Congress moved to lift the Federal Government borrowing limit by 290 Billion dollars - enough to last about two (2) months. This action will set the state for a wild debate early this year on government spending which, by the way, is out of control. The 290 Billion would lift the Federal Government’s total debt to $12.4 Trillion, and keep the government afloat through February. Just weeks ago senior Congressional leaders wanted to increase the debt limit to almost $2 Trillion – enough to support the Government needs through 2010, but that did not happen.

This leaves Congress facing another debate on the issue before the end of February which will face severe challenges in the Senate very soon.
